    Inlaks Fellowship Programme 2011

    DETAIL: 

     

    Awarded by Inlaks Fellowship Foundation, this programme was set up in memory of the late Dr. Ravi Sankaran who followed up his detailed field studies of wild species with innovative projects to conserve their populations. This program funds:

    • Master’s degree at a University abroad
    • Internship with a university abroad

    The scholarship covers stipend, travel funds and an amount covering course fees. In addition to this, students may also be awarded an added amount towards project expenses upto Rs. 200,000 a year.

    ELIGIBILITY: 

     Each activity is intended to have an explicit conservation focus, with an emphasis on clear on-ground conservation benefits. Successful applicants will ordinarily hold a Bachelor’s degree (in any discipline) and be below the age of 30 on the date of the application deadline.

    Singapore Government awards scholarships to government endorsed students from member countries of ASEAN.     The University of Cambridge has long been one of the world’s leading centres for study of Africa. In addition to fostering PhD level research, we run a one-year interdisciplinary MPhil in African Studies, with teaching contributions from faculty in History, Politics and International Relations, Social Anthropology, Geography and English. The course also includes training in an African language.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

    Applications are invited from candidates in all the disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. Applicants are expected to have completed a doctoral degree before the Fellowship start date. Preference will be given to candidates with a distinguished research profile commensurate with their academic rank. Early- to mid-career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply. Offers are normally made to applicants who are permanent residents in Africa. It is expected that applicants would be intending to come to Cambridge to work on a project building on existing research for which a period of residence in Cambridge is demonstrably appropriate. They should present a clear and feasible plan for preparing one or more pieces of work for publication. The initiation of a new research project will not be ruled out where there is a realistic expectation that it could be substantially advanced by the end of the tenure of the Fellowship.

This is part of a joint initiative between Eni & St Antony’s College to invest in and strengthen African leadership.

    St Antony’s College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in England. Founded in 1950 as the result of the gift of French merchant Sir Antonin Besse of Aden, St Antony’s is one of the most cosmopolitan of the University of Oxford’s colleges and is considered to be a centre of excellence for study and research in the fields of international relations, economics, politics, and area studies.

    Applicants must have proof of competence in written and spoken English (Support for improving English language skills may be provided by the Language Learning Centre at Oxford).

    ELIGIBILITY: 

    Eligibility:

    • The scholarships are open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in Angola, Ghana, Libya, Mozambique and Nigeria. Preference will be given to applicants whose first degree is from an African university.
    • The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of both academic merit and potential and financial need. Preference will be given to applicants who have clear ambitions to use their accumulated learning to benefit their home country after graduation.
    • Please ensure student meet the requirements for entry to their course, including English language requirements.

    These Visiting Research Fellowships, open to citizens of countries in Asia or Africa, are intended to encourage interaction among academics from different traditions of learning.
